George Alexander, Principal
Stories connect us as people and I love storytelling. It’s the best part of my job. As a Mobile, Alabama native, I grew up surrounded by great Southern storytellers who appreciated the art of conversation. It’s actually what drew me to journalism, producing television and video content, and writing books.
What I love most about producing television and video content is that I get to tell stories using not only words, but also original and archival footage, photographs, music and graphics. I get to, in other words, play with more toys in delivering the final product and find it amazingly fun.
As a producer and with my company Galex Media, I’ve been fortunate to have worked with some really incredible brands and some of the biggest names in entertainment: ESPN, OWN, TNT, ESSENCE, PBS, BET, Time Inc.,TV One, the YMCA, Oprah Winfrey, Angela Bassett, Tom Cruise, Spike Lee, Steven Spielberg, Ava DuVernay, and more.
A New York City-based producer, Lauren has contributed to a range of media projects including Changing TheFace of Medicine: Black Women in Medicine, BET’s Stay Woke: The Movement For Black Lives, BET’s Through The Fire: The Legacy of Barack Obama, Oprah’s Master Class, as well as digital and branded content for companies such as ESSENCE Communications. Lauren graduated with a degree in English from Amherst College and received her M.S. degree in Media Management from The New School, specializing in producing and media business and leadership. Currently, Lauren is serving as the Associate Producer on a Miles Davis documentary produced by Firelight Films, headed by multiple Emmy Award-winning producer Stanley Nelson.
